If you get the above message while trying to install an application through Ubuntu Software Center (on Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx) try the following to fix it:
Go to System>Administrator>Software Sources, open the second tab "Other Software" and click the http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu partner (Source Code)
Plz comment if it doesn't work.

P.S. Well, what a damn knowledge a user must have to figure this out. This is quite annoying.
I have "System>Administrator" but no "Software Sources" in the following menu.
actually this is for ubuntu 10.04 , i haven't checked this for 10.10 which is currently the latest
found this for ubuntu 10.10 to enable software sources.
fix still didn't help though
