My favourite apps on Ubuntu

Lets have a look on my favourite apps for Ubuntu OS. (Current Karmic Koala 9.10)
This is mostly for new ubuntu users thus they can have a taste.
Let's go:

For a browser.

I use Google Chrome

Some would prefer Mozilla's Firefox, I am a Chrome fun. A super fast broswer that never crashes and with a great simple style.

For an instant messenger.

I use Pidgin

Although I don't find it THAT good, I find it the best for linux users. Actually I never was happy with an instant messenger. I always wanted a mix of Windows Live messenger's fanciness and Gtalk's simplicity.

(For video calls Skype beta for Linux as you'd expected)

For a dock.

I use Docky

Docky began as a theme for Gnome Do but now is an independent beautiful dock app. It has style, nice settings, docklets and helpers. Avant Window Navigator dock is my second choice here.

For a "make my life easier"

Gnome Do

With Do you can launch anything with just a few keystrokes... My favourite Ubuntu app.

For an Email client

I use Mozilla Thunderbird

I get my e-mails (from 3 different e-mail accounts) with Thunderbird just because is the most famous email client =)

For a Music Center

Songbird

Stylish stylish stylish. All well-organised + nice graphics = I need to own this. My 2nd favourite Ubuntu app.

For a BitTorrent Client

Transmission

Why? Hm.. First of all, is the default torrent client on ubuntu. It has all the options I really need in a simple style, kinda minimalistic. And last but not least, a VERY light application. For anyone, thought, that Transmission seems to him too poor, try KTorrrent instead, you will love it!

For... Microsoft Windows OS

VirtualBox

With VirtualBox you can have all your favourite Windows applications on a virtual Windows OS. No partitions no nothing. For instance I use Adobe Flash and Photoshop that way.

Now feel free to..
